A Yes vote means better jobs for young people in Scotland

Interesting topic on people migrating within the UK to London and the South East.
A Yes vote means better jobs and opportunities – and more of them – for young people in Scotland.

With a Yes:

The Scottish Parliament gets the job-creating powers it needs
We can strengthen wages by raising the minimum wage with independence
There will be more career choices here in Scotland
Independence means we’ll have the job-creating powers our country needs to encourage firms to create more opportunities in Scotland.

Only a Yes vote gives Scotland full tax and investment powers which can be used to grow the economy and make it easier for firms to hire more employees.

We can make more of our international reputation to boost exports, with a 50% increase in exports delivering 100,000 new jobs.

And a Yes means we can strengthen wages of people in Scotland, including young people who are often low paid immediately after leaving school or college.

Powers to raise the minimum wage and encourage a living wage mean we can give younger Scots greater financial security as they begin to enter the world of work, while the full economic powers of independence mean we can secure better prospects in the long term.

Generations of young people have had to leave Scotland to find new employment opportunities because, for decades, the Westminster system’s economic approach has favoured London and the South East.

An independent Scotland, 100% focused on improving the prospects of people living here, can build up our economy to counteract London’s economic pull, creating more career choices for young people, closer to home.

In addition, as a full independent country, we’ll see more career opportunities:

The Scottish Broadcasting Service, a beefed up version of BBC Scotland, will mean new opportunities in production and a revitalised media sector, worth tens of millions of pounds as more license fee income is spent here in Scotland.
Government jobs we currently pay for in London, in departments like the Foreign Office and the Treasury, will move up here, meaning new career paths and more senior level employment.
Many companies currently headquartered outside Scotland will set up new HQ functions here, meaning a wider range of well paid roles.
And these new sources of employment will deliver wider benefits throughout the economy, with new demand for services helping create new jobs.

A Yes will see a whole range of new opportunities opening up for young people in Scotland. With a Yes, we can focus our nation’s energies on securing a brighter economic future.

I certainly know many people who have moved to London and also some who moved to London, couldn;t afford it and moved back.

Do the Scots really believe this Land of Milk and Honey rubbish from the SNP? Their message seems to be whatever your problem is, it will all go away with a yes vote. Whilst I cant see yes winning, i almost hope it does just for the amusement factor when it all these promised miracles dont happen. Presumably that would all be Londons fault as well.

Where are the SNP going to get the money from to implement these grandiose schemes?
Only a Yes vote gives Scotland full tax ....... powers
Ah that is where they are going to get the money from. Lots of jobs created but high taxes to cover it

A similar question and answer is provided here

    Question:
Will we be able to afford to run the health service and other public services in an independent Scotland?

    Answer:
Yes - without any doubt. The most recent national accounts for Scotland show that our national finances are in a healthier condition than the rest of the UK. This means we are better able to afford current levels of spending on things like the NHS.

In fact, we have one of the best sets of national accounts of any nation in the developed world.

Of course, the Scottish Parliament and Government already control Scotland's NHS and its budget. Since 1999, successive Scottish governments have made steady improvements to Scotland's health and the quality of healthcare, while protecting the NHS as a free public service, consistent with the values of the NHS and the priorities of the people in Scotland. Our NHS has been protected from Westminster reforms which have seen private competition playing a significant role in other parts of the UK.

A Yes vote will therefore not affect the day-to-day running of our NHS. What it does do is provides us with the opportunity to radically alter the environment in which it requires to operate - by giving us all the powers we need to address income and health inequalities, to regulate alcohol and tobacco, and promote healthy diet. In short, Scotland will be able to tackle all the key health challenges it faces through preventative measures - instead of having to focus on cure.

Simplistically speaking, income and expenditure are critical to any budgeting.

I believe there is a number of areas where savings have been identified

It's a cut and paste job from YesScotland.net which I would presume to be the Yes campaign's online presence.

So what was the point of this thread then?

Shame, as ISTL is usually a pretty decent poster, who at least tries to find facts and independent, unbiased data to back his assertions.

Rather than just posting YESNP propaganda.

I was shocked to hear this morning that Aberdeen was 28% of scottish GDP but only 4% of population suggesting that GDP per head of the other 96% of Scots is only about 75% of the uk average. Better hope that oil doesn't run out....
    I think....
